Websites by the Gleaner

A website for your Michigan business. $50 a year.

We've spent years writing about the shops, cabins, diners and tradespeople that make small-town Michigan worth the drive. Now we'll build your business a site of its own: send us your photos, pick your colors, and we design it, register its domain, host it, and hand you the keys.

Basic hosting

$50/year

  • A site designed around your photos and colors
  • A domain we choose and buy for you, included
  • Hosting, renewed yearly; cancel any time
  • A contact and quote form that drops every request into Trades Chaser
  • Admin access to your site once it's finished

Plus a free year of Trades Chaser (the Base plan, normally $421.20 a year): invoices, quotes, automatic payment reminders, and a leads inbox fed straight from your new website.

  1. Fill out the form below. Your business details, what you'd like, at least two colors, at least three photos, and how you want to handle your web address: we pick and buy an affordable domain for you (included), or you bring your own by setting up its DNS or transferring it to us.
  2. Pay $50 for the year through Stripe's secure checkout.
  3. We call you from (989) 858-6742 to go over the design and any changes you'd like. Rather have email? There's a box for that.
  4. We build it, and you get admin access when it's done. Requests from your site's form land in Trades Chaser with an email alert, so nothing slips through.

    How we'll reach you

Expect a phone call from (989) 858-6742 to talk through the design and any changes you'd like. When your site is finished, you'll get admin access to it.

Next you'll pay $50/year for hosting through Stripe. It renews yearly until you cancel. Your first year of Trades Chaser is included free.

    Questions

    Good to know

What does $50 a year cover?

Hosting for the site we build you, on our servers, and the domain we buy for it. It renews yearly through Stripe until you cancel.

Do I get to pick my web address?

We decide which web address your site gets unless you set up the DNS yourself or transfer a domain you already own. When we choose, we buy an affordable domain suited to your business on your behalf, included in the $50/year. If you want a particular address, either set up the DNS yourself on a domain you own (we send you the records) or transfer a domain you already own to us. Choose which on the order form.

What's the free year of Trades Chaser?

Trades Chaser is the invoicing app we run alongside the Gleaner. You get a year of its Base plan (normally $421.20 a year): customers, quotes, invoices, automatic payment reminders, expenses and job costing. The form on your new site sends requests straight into your Trades Chaser leads, with an email alert for each one. After the first year you can keep going on any plan, including the free one.

Do I get to make changes?

Yes. We'll call you from (989) 858-6742 to go over the design and any changes before it goes live. If you'd rather not get a call, tick the box on the form and we'll email instead. Once it's finished you get admin access to your site.

    Who do I pay?

Checkout runs through Stripe on the Trades Chaser account, which handles billing for the Gleaner's sites. Your receipt and renewals come from there.

    Will you text me?

Only if you opt in on the form. You can reply STOP at any time.
